Chrome extensions are trust-first. Here's what Catchevo does, doesn't, and why.
Is the Catchevo Chrome extension free?
Yes. Installing the extension is free, and you get 5 free catches on signup (valid for 90 days). After that, catches are sold in packs, and a catch credit is only ever charged when Catchevo actually finds you a saving that meets our published threshold. Already at the best price? No charge, no credit spent.
Which browsers does it support?
The extension is built for Chrome and any Chromium-based browser, which includes Microsoft Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, and Opera. Just install it from the Chrome Web Store, and it works everywhere Chrome extensions run. Firefox and Safari versions are on the roadmap.
What permissions does the extension need, and why?
Catchevo asks for the minimum permissions needed to work: reading the URL and product data on retailer pages you're actively on (so we know what to hunt for), local storage (to remember your session), and browser notifications (to ping you when a catch lands). We don't read pages you're not actively catching, we don't inject ads or affiliate redirects, and we don't sell any browsing data. Retailers cannot pay to influence what you see.
Does the extension slow down my browsing?
No. The extension only activates on retailer product pages, and even then it does nothing until you click the icon. There's no background scanning of every tab, no injected scripts on non-shopping sites, and no analytics pings on pages you're not catching. The service worker sleeps when you're not using it.
Which shops does it work on?
Every retailer where you can land on a product page. Amazon, John Lewis, Bol.com, Coolblue, Target, Currys, ASOS, eBay, Vinted, plus thousands of smaller and specialist shops, because Catchevo reads the product info live from whatever page you're on, it doesn't need a hardcoded list of supported stores. If the page shows a product, Catchevo can catch it.
Do I need a mobile app too?
The extension works standalone. You get browser notifications when a catch lands, and you can view your active catches inside the extension popup. But if you install the Catchevo mobile app with the same account, you'll get catches on the go too, plus the ability to snap a photo of a product in real life and have Catchevo hunt for it.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Catchevo doesn't sell your browsing history, doesn't share it with retailers, and doesn't run behavioural ads. The only data we look at is the product info on a page you actively ask us to catch. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
Can I uninstall at any time?
Of course. Right-click the Catchevo icon in Chrome and pick "Remove from Chrome". That's it. No account cleanup needed unless you want to also delete your Catchevo account, which you can do from the app or by contacting support.
